The past few days I’ve been reading Parker Palmer’s book, Let Your Life Speak: Listening for the Voice of Vocation.  Palmer reminds us that where our joy and the worlds needs meet is the beginning of finding a unique gift that both transforms us and transforms the world.  When we find that holy intersection we participate in advancing love from an inner well-spring place that is strengthened in community and also strengthens our communities.

Palmer writes, “abundance is a communal act, the joint creation of an incredibly complex ecology in which each part functions on behalf of the whole and, in return, is sustained by the whole.  Community doesn’t just create abundance—community is abundance.  If we could learn that equation from the world of nature, the human world might be transformed.”

We all have different roles to play in lifting up the vulnerable but each and every one of us are needed.  When that divine partnership takes place, when we find that holy intersection of your joy and my joy meeting the worlds needs then ABUNDANCE becomes the gift for all of us… sort of like an ancient story I heard about a small boy with only a few fish and loaves of bread that miraculously feeds more than imaginable.

Lift Up the Vulnerable made the news this weekend at MyCentralJersey.com.  It’s a fish and loaves story too in its own way.  Overall it highlights to me that the act of lifting requires strength and we are strongest when we work together.

Thank you for joining the LUV community and participating in lifting up the most vulnerable children and women in our world so we may all experience the gift of the Abundant Life of Love.
