Investing in local leaders like James, Peter, and Salma is vital to our anti-trafficking work in warzones. Along with 176 local leaders, 23 paid interns, 18 farm leaders, and 231 contract workers, these men and women from Sudan and South Sudan are transforming lives and in 2024, they will create safe, supportive spaces for over 1,428 children and support an additional 3,584 family members. 

With tears in his eyes, one student recently told James,

“‘I have no words to express myself for what happened to us. I am so very pleased and very happy, if it was not at this center as an orphan as I am, I don’t think I would have been who I am right now… What if you did not come back, James? What if you did not come back and sit here? Where do you think, or where would I have been right now?… I would have been in Khartoum to work there in the factory or to be in the military… or I’ll become a criminal somewhere, or maybe I would have not been alive, I don’t know. But now look, we are very clean, we are eating well, we’ve got education. What a great thing.”   

To which James responded,  

“We thank God, and we thank God for the people who stood with us and took their responsibility to make it possible.”
